Preston have completed the signing of Walsall winger Josh Ginnelly, who has signed a two-and-a-half year deal after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the player.

This move won't come as a shock as the 21-year-old had missed the Saddlers last three games of 2018 ahead of the transfer window following speculation surrounding his future.

And, it was all confirmed this morning, with North End revealing on their website that they had secured the quick winger.

Ginnelly managed two goals and picked up several assists in a very productive first six months in League One after joining Walsall in the summer.

However, having only signed a one-year deal, the West Midlands club were always going to struggle to keep hold of the 21-year-old with his contract running down.

The former Burnley man will not be able to feature for his new team today against Rotherham due to registration deadlines, whilst he is also cup-tied so will miss Sunday's game with Doncaster.

Therefore, he could make his debut for Alex Neil's men on 12 January when the Lancashire side host Swansea.

The Verdict

This is a great move for Ginnelly and he will be desperate to prove himself at this level, so he fits the profile for this Preston squad.

With great pace and a direct style, he will give North End a real threat down the flanks and could be an exciting watch.

Now it's about getting to know his new teammates and trying to settle into the side as soon as possible.
