Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Greece international midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis.

Despite the transfer and loan windows being closed, free agents can move without restriction.

And Forest have announced the 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal at the City Ground, until the summer of 2020.

Tachtsidis becomes Aitor Karanka’s 15th signing this summer after agreeing on a move to the Championship club after leaving Olympiacos in the close season.

He made 25 appearances for the Greek side last year, in all competitions.

A defensive minded player who has been brought in to play a holding role for Karanka’s men, he has a wealth of continental and international experience for the Forest boss to call upon.

Tachtsidis is currently away with Greece on international duty but could be in line to make his Nottingham Forest debut next weekend in the trip to face Swansea City.

The Verdict

This is a solid signing for Aitor Karanka who you'd expect to still want to add more signings this summer - why stop with 15!

His range of passing and physical prowess is an addition to the City Ground that was needed.

Forest have lacked bite, fight and creativity in the middle of the pack and Panagiotis Tachtsidis has all of that in abundance.

He will be a powerhouse that Forest need as they look solid at the back and have a decent attacking line.

The perfect addition to a side that has been crying out for a player in the mould of the former Olympiacos man.
