Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Claudio Yacob, with the midfielder signing a permanent contract at the City Ground.

An announcement has come on Forest’s official website this evening confirming Yacob’s arrival, with the free agent agreeing a two year deal with the Championship club, taking him through until the summer of 2020.

The 31-year-old has a wealth of experience under his belt, with the midfielder featuring regularly for West Bromwich Albion over a six year spell.

Yacob made 175 appearances for Albion between 2012 and 2018, with the majority of those coming in the Premier League.

However, following West Brom’s relegation last season, Yacob was released and became a free agent.

The midfielder now becomes the latest addition to Aitor Karanka’s expanding squad.

Karanka has overseen big changes at Forest over the summer, with many tipping the Reds to be successful before the season started.

However, Forest have endured a tough start to the season, which has surprised many.

Karanka’s side have picked up seven points from their opening six fixtures of the season, winning on only one occasion.

The Verdict

Forest are overloaded with midfielders, but this does feel like a strong addition.

Yacob has so much experience, and during his time with West Brom, he was a useful player to have around.

At 31, he will have an influence both on and off the pitch at the City Ground, which will be vital over the course of a long, difficult Championship season.
