Nottingham Forest have announced that talented forward Tyler Walker has signed a new long-term contract with the club that will keep him at the City Ground until 2021.

The 21-year old, who is the son of Forest legend Des, did have over 18 months left on his current deal, however his form this season has prompted the East Midlands club to ensure he has been rewarded with a new deal.

Walker has been with the club since he was eight-years old and told the official site that he was delighted to be extending his stay. "I am buzzing to sign a new contract. I am just trying to get on with my football but I am glad to secure my future here and I can get on with playing football for the team. I am just trying to repay the faith that the manager has shown in me.”

After various loan spells Walker has worked his way into the team this season, scoring the winner at Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and a brace against Burton recently in the league. And, he’s revealed just how proud he is to play for the club.

This is the club that has been in the family, I live in Nottingham and it is always special when you pull on the shirt.”

The Verdict

This is great news for Forest fans. With his initial deal expiring in 2019, you would’ve expected rumours surrounding his future to pick up over the next few months.

But, Forest would’ve been desperate to keep Walker and he was clearly desperate to stay. The youngster is an extremely talented player and has deservedly got a place in the team.

Now, he has to kick on and look to fulfil the potential he has because Walker can become a key figure for Forest in the upcoming years.
