Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has completed a season-long loan switch to Scottish Premier League side Rangers, as reported by Forest's official website.

The 21-year old, a product of the Forest academy, will enjoy Europa League football next season after Steven Gerrard's side qualified for the group stages with a hard-fought draw against FC Ufa in Russia this week.

He made 35 senior appearances for Forest last season, 31 of which came in the Championship. He's tumbled down the pecking order since the summer and is heading out with a view to getting regular minutes.

There's few clubs he could have joined in the United Kingdom bigger than Rangers. Ibrox averages 45,000 fans per match and as well as the European adventure, they're expected to challenge for the Premier League title.

In all, Worrall has played 56 times for Forest, scoring once. He enjoyed a loan spell with Dagenham and Redbridge in in 2016, where he made 14 League Two appearances, chipping in with a goal.

The Verdict

This has been in the offing for a while now and with the deal completed, all three parties are winners.

Forest have their player getting regular football at a good level, which is a bonus. Rangers get a very good defender, young and promising but capable of playing on the bigger stage.

Worrall gets it all, big matches, huge crowds and an experience that will stand him in very good stead for the future. Ibrox is an awful long way from Dagenham, that is for sure.
