Norwich City have this morning announced the arrival of Onel Hernandez, with the club’s official website confirming the winger’s arrival at Carrow Road for an undisclosed fee.

Daniel Farke has moved to add Hernandez to his squad at a late stage of the January transfer window, bolstering his options going forward following the departures of Alex Pritchard and Cameron Jerome earlier in the window.

Hernandez arrives at Carrow Road from Eintracht Braunschweig, who he has been with since the summer of 2016, making 54 appearances, scoring six goals and chipping in with a further seven assists.

The 24-year-old, who has previously played for Werder Bremen II and Wolfsburg II, has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal at Carrow Road, contracting him to the Canaries until the summer of 2021.

So far this season the attack-minded Hernandez has scored just once in his 17 Bundesliga 2 appearances, but the form he showed last season has convinced Farke to bring him to England.

Hernandez will link-up with his Norwich teammates who are struggling to work their way into the race for the play-offs, with the Canaries currently sitting 13th in the table, nine points adrift of the top-six.

The Verdict

After a number of attacking departures this month, bolstering their forward line had to be Norwich’s priority, which Hernandez helps to cover.

Although the 24-year-old has been far from prolific over the course of his career, Farke will have seen first-hand what the winger can do, having spent time in Germany prior to his move to England.

This has the potential to be a really exciting signing for Norwich.
