Millwall have confirmed that Jed Wallace has signed a new 'long-term' deal with the Lions.

The winger has been a key player for Neil Harris since making the move to The Den, having initially joined in January as the London outfit won promotion back to the Championship.

Then, he signed permanently and Wallace was integral in what was a memorable previous campaign.

Despite their newly-promoted status, Harris' men made a late push to the play-offs, with Wallace key, scoring six goals in the season.

And, he has been rewarded with a new deal, with the club confirming the news this evening.

Middlesbrough had a bid for the 24-year-old rejected in the summer and it was thought they could come back for Wallace, however, he told the official site just how pleased he was to be staying:

"I'm delighted. I've re-joined this club three times now and it's nice that the club, again, have shown faith in me and have rewarded me with a new contract.

"I love this club. I love playing here. It's a great area for me to live in, it's close to my family. I know the manager well, I feel like I know the supporters well and I feel like they know me well, so it's a win-win."

The former Portsmouth man will now hope to lead the Lions up the table, with the team currently 21st in the league.

The Verdict

This is a great boost for Millwall as they may have feared interest from Boro after the summer transfer saga.

However, Wallace is staying put and is clearly enjoying himself at The Den, where he is a big player.

Now, he needs to help the side rediscover the great form they had shown last season and ensure they can move away from the relegation zone.
