Reading have announced that Danzell Gravenberch will spend another season on loan in Belgium with KSV Roeselare.

The 24-year old defender/defensive midfielder joined the Royals two years ago but hasn’t yet made a serious impact at the club.

He was restricted to just two league appearances, and a further three in the cups, in his first year before spending the last campaign at Roselare.

And, even though it was an injury-hit campaign for Gravenberch, the Belgian club were keen on bringing him back, with Reading confirming that a deal had gone through on their website yesterday evening.

The former Ajax youth player signed a three-year deal when he joined back in 2016, which will expire when his next loan spell ends and it seems highly unlikely that he will play another game for the club.

It continues what has been a very busy summer so far for Paul Clement who has made major changes to his squad as he looks to put his own mark at the club in what is his first window.

The verdict

Some Reading fans may have thought Gravenberch would get a chance in pre-season but Clement had clearly made his mind up.

He has a lot of defensive and midfield options at the club and the former Dordrecht man didn’t do enough last season to suggest he should come back ahead of them.

Now, it’s about clearing more fringe players in and adding quality ahead of the kick-off on August 4.
