Middlesbrough have completed the signing of George Saville from Millwall, with the midfielder joining on an initial loan deal that will become permanent in January.

The 25-year old only spent one season at The Den but made a massive impact in that short time, scoring ten goals as a box-to-box midfielder.

As well as the goals, he impressed with his ability on the ball and the way he covered the ground in Neil Harris' side.

Such form was key to the Lions very successful season, which saw them make a very late push for the play-offs but they ultimately fell short.

Nevertheless, the former Wolves man caught the eye and Boro confirmed on their website this evening that they had secured a late deal for the player.

Whilst they didn't disclose the future fee, recent reports have suggested the Teesside outfit will pay £8m for Saville.

Obviously, this deal will come far too late for the Northern Ireland international to join up with his new teammates tonight against Leeds, meaning Saville should make his Boro debut against Norwich after the international break.

The Verdict

This is a great signing for Middlesbrough as Saville has really developed into a top Championship player in the past year.

He is capable on the ball and gets stuck in but most importantly he has added goals to his game and that was hugely impressive at Millwall.

Now, he will look to take that form into his new club and he could be a key player in Boro's promotion push.
