Middlesbrough have this morning announced the appointment of Adrian Bevington as the club’s new Head of Recruitment Operations.

The Sky Bet Championship club have moved swiftly to make changes behind the scenes at the Riverside Stadium following their play-off defeat to Aston Villa, with Bevington’s arrival announced.

The Teessiders confirmed the appointment of Bevington as Head of Recruitment Operations early this morning, with the Middlesbrough-born 47-year-old set to bring a wealth of experience to the Riverside Stadium.

Bevington previously worked for the Football Association, but will now link-up with his boyhood club to oversee day-to-day functioning of the recruitment department.

Boro are preparing for a second year in the Championship, having failed to secure an instant promotion back to the top-flight.

Tony Pulis’ side finished fifth in the Championship table, but despite a good run of form ahead of the play-offs, fell at the first hurdle, with Aston Villa handing them a semi-final defeat.

Villa were 1-0 winners on aggregate, with Mile Jedinak’s header all that separated the two sides after 180 minutes of football.

The Verdict

A man of Bevington’s experience arriving at the Riverside Stadium can only be seen as a positive thing for Middlesbrough at this time.

Of course, Boro will be hurting following their play-off defeat, but the club are once again moving forwards quickly and putting plans in place ahead of next season.

Supporters should be encouraged by their club’s efficiency.
