Sky Bet Championship side Reading have sacked manager Paul Clement, the club have confirmed.

The 46-year-old arrived at the Madejski Stadium last March after the departure of Jaap Stam, and has since won 7 out of 30 games at the helm of the Berkshire club.

However, with the Royals sitting just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, reports have surfaced that the former Chelsea and Real Madrid assistant manager has now lost his job, just two days before an home clash with Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon,

Reading are actually a revitalised unit of late - they have lost just one of their last five games after a late draw at home to Stoke City last week, a win that showed that they still have fight and spirit.

But with just two wins in their last seven, it's clear to see why the club have taken this decision, with the club sitting 21st in the Sky Bet Championsip table.

The Verdict

This is actually really surprising after recent weeks.

The Royals have actually looked quite promising over the last few weeks and were looking like a team once again.

Who do Reading appoint now? It's going to be very interesting with time running out...
