Jamie Shackleton has signed a new contract with Leeds United.

Leeds have confirmed on the club's official website that Shackleton has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at Elland Road, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2021.

Shackleton signs a new deal just two days after making his senior debut for Leeds, coming on as a 73rd minute substitute in the 4-1 victory over Derby County.

The 18-year-old had played three games for the first-team in pre-season and is in and around the senior squad at the moment.

The talented teenager plays as a central midfielder and has progressed through the Leeds academy, featuring regularly for the youth sides over the past few seasons.

His good performances and rapid rise to the first-team have earned the Leeds starlet a new and improved contract.

The Verdict

Shackleton could be next in the long line of academy products who have progressed and made an impact in the first-team at Leeds.

He already looks composed and confident at senior level, just from his short stint on his debut.

Marcelo Bielsa clearly rates him very highly and used him a lot in pre-season so there is a big future ahead for the youngster.
