Leeds United have this morning confirmed the arrival of Jordan Stevens from Forest Green Rovers, with the midfielder arriving at Elland Road for an undisclosed fee.

The morning after the close of the January transfer window, Leeds have moved to their official website to confirm that Stevens has arrived, having agreed a two-and-a-half year deal at Elland Road, with Leeds having the option to extend that contract by a further year.

Stevens has broken onto the scene with Forest Green’s first-team this season, making 15 senior appearances for the League Two outfit across all competitions, scoring one goal, which came in the EFL Trophy.

The 17-year-old has featured on nine occasions in League Two this season, but now departs for Elland Road and the Championship.

Leeds will not add Stevens to Thomas Christiansen’s first-team squad, but instead will hand the teenager an opportunity to impress in the club’s under-23 squad.

Bolstering the club’s development squad has been a theme of Leeds’ business over the last month, with a number of other names added to Carlos Corberan’s ranks during January.

Stevens could make his debut tomorrow against Birmingham City.

The Verdict

Stevens has built up a strong reputation at Forest Green, and his introduction to first-team football this season has brought him to the attention of Leeds, who have acted swiftly to get him through the door at Elland Road.

The 17-year-old now has the opportunity to push on with Leeds’ under-23 squad, with the hope he can eventually be knocking on the door of the first-team.

Leeds’ business has been questioned this month, but there is no doubt the future has the potential to look really bright for the Elland Road club.
