Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Janoi Donacien, who joins the club on-loan from Accrington Stanley in a move that will be made permanent once he is granted a work permit.

The 24-year-old defender, who can play across the back four, was a key part of Stanley's title-winning campaign last time out.

He played 45 games for the club as they won promotion to League One as champions against all odds.

And, the former Aston Villa academy player has now joined the Tractor Boys, who confirmed the deal on their website.

He is the latest lower league player to make the move to Portman Road under Paul Hurst and the new Ipswich boss revealed how pleased he was to get the player:

"Janoi has done well over the last couple of seasons. He defends very well one v one and gets up and down the pitch.

"He is someone that again fits the profile of what we are looking for - someone who is hungry, has not played at this level before - and he’s at a good age that we feel there is progression there."

The Verdict

This is another impressive signing from Hurst who is building a very exciting squad at Ipswich, full of players who are eager to prove themselves.

It's a big step up for Donacien, but he deserves the chance after an outstanding two seasons with Accrington.

Now, it's down to him to show what he can do and he's sure to be an important player over the season.
