West Brom have confirmed the departure of Kenneth Zohore.

In a statement released on the club’s website, the Baggies confirmed that the forward has been released early from his contract.

The 29-year old mutually agreed with Albion to call it a day on his time at the Hawthorns after three and a half-years at the club.

West Brom signed the striker from Cardiff City in 2019.

Zohore went on to make just 23 appearances for the club in that time, having failed to ever really establish himself as a key member of the squad.

The Dane’s contract was set to expire in the summer, but that has been cut short early as he looks to secure a new club.

Zohore failed to make a single league appearance for the Baggies this season, last competing for the club in a 6-0 loss to Arsenal in the EFL Cup in August 2021.

The striker is now available to talk to new clubs over a potential move and can be registered at any time due to being a free agent, meaning tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline is no longer of consequence to the former West Brom man.

The Verdict

This is the right decision for both parties, all things considered.

The Dane had not played in such a long time that keeping him around for the final six months of his contract was a waste of time.

This will now allow him to discuss with English clubs over an immediate move instead of having to wait until the summer.

And West Brom now have his wages off their books which will save them some money over the next few months.
