An announcement has come this afternoon from the Robins that they have taken Dasilva on board for the 2018/19 campaign, with the Chelsea left-back arriving at Ashton Gate on a temporary basis.

During his time in the youth team at Stamford Bridge, Dasilva has impressed, winning the Youth Cup on three occasions with the Blues.

The 20-year-old is yet to make an appearance for his parent-club, but has enjoyed two loan spells at Charlton Athletic.

During his two separate spells at The Valley, Dasilva made 54 appearances, with 44 of those coming last season.

Dasilva helped Charlton reach the play-off semi-finals last season, putting in some composed displays at left-back.

Now, the 20-year-old joins Bristol City, becoming Lee Johnson’s eighth signing of a busy summer transfer window.

Dasilva has revealed that Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham, who spent the 2016/17 campaign on-loan with the Robins, was key to his decision to move to Ashton Gate.

He told Bristol City’s official website: “He spoke very highly of the club, he misses the place a lot because he enjoyed every minute while he was here. He loved the club, the fans and the city so he said I will enjoy my time here.”

The Verdict

A first-team chance at Chelsea was unlikely to come for Dasilva, who will continue his development in the EFL.

For Bristol City, they are getting their hands on a very good player.

Dasilva impressed last season for Charlton, and now, looks ready for a chance in the Championship.

This could be more good business from Johnson.
