Bradford City have wasted no time in bringing in a new head coach, little over 12 hours after dismissing Michael Collins.
Collins became the third League One manager to leave his job this season, following in the footsteps of Nick Daws of Scunthorpe and Gary Bowyer of Blackpool.
The Bantams quickly had their replacement ready, with former Valley Parade player David Hopkin arriving as Head Coach.
He's recently been with Livingston in Scotland, whom he has led to successive promotions back to the Scottish Premier League. His contract ran out in May and he opted not to renew it.
As a player, Hopkin started out at Chelsea and also featured for Leeds United and Crystal Palace before a big-money move to Bradford City in 2000. He cost the Bantams £2.5m from Leeds, still a club record to this day. It wasn't money well spent, he managed just 11 games for the club before moving back to Palace.
He takes over a side 17th in the League One table, with six points from six games. Most recently, they lost at home to Joey Barton's Fleetwood Town.
The Verdict
The Bantams have left little doubt that this deal was sown up prior to letting Collins go with such a quickfire move to replace him. The rookie coach must feel hard done by, especially with a transfer policy that seemed to revolve around bringing in young players.
Hopkin has a good record as a manager, his spell in charge of Livingston was incredibly impressive. He'll need all his experience and knowledge to pull Bradford around though, they've been in steady decline for a while now.
