Bolton have today completed the signing of Everton midfielder Joe Williams on a season-long loan deal, announced the club’s official website.
Williams becomes Phil Parkinson’s 18th signing of the summer and joins a side flying surprisingly high in the Championship table after three wins and a draw so far this season.
The 21-year-old is predominantly a central midfielder but is capable of playing on the right as well and spent last season on loan at relegated Barnsley.
He impressed during his time at Oakwell making 38 appearances in all competitions and scoring once.
But his assuredness and control in the centre of midfield caught the eye especially for somebody so young and he will no doubt be high in the pecking order at Bolton as well.
Williams has been at Goodison Park since the age of seven and has risen through the ranks at the club, although he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the club but did make the bench is 2014 for the Toffee’s Europa League clash with FC Krasnodar.
This looks to be a very decent signing from Phil Parkinson.
There were a lot questions being asked of Bolton’s transfer business this summer with regards to whether the players he has signed will actually be any good or not, but the start of this season has proven that.
Williams is somebody else who will add to the team. After his performances with Barnsley last season there is no way that the 21-year-old will be sat on the bench too much.
