Bolton Wanderers have announced the signing of Angers SCO defender Yoan Zouma, younger brother of Chelsea star Kurt, on a two-year deal.

In a statement on the Bolton Wanderers website, the club confirmed that the 20-year-old has join the Trotters from the Ligue 1 side, and will play for the club's Under-23 side for the foreseeable future.

Yoan Zouma, who will play under the reign of David Lee this season, had shown his worth whilst on trial at the University of Bolton Stadium throughout this summer’s pre-season training, and was rewarded with a two-year deal at the club.

Older brother Kurt, who spent last season on loan at Stoke City, has won two Premier League titles and a League Cup in his four years at Stamford Bridge, and will spend this season on loan at Everton.

Bolton Wanderers also confirmed the signing of youth prospect Marcus Wood, following his release from Manchester City last season.

The Verdict

Whilst older brother Kurt has had somewhat of an up and down time since joining Chelsea, if Yoan Zouma turns out to be on the same level as his brother, Bolton will have completed a very good bit of business.

Yoan Zouma will slot in nicely to the youth set up at the University of Bolton Stadium, and will be looking to impress and get a call up to the first team.

Phil Parkinson’s side has picked up four points from their opening two fixtures this season so far, with a win against West Bromwich Albion and draw against Bristol City.
