Bolton Wanderers today confirmed the signing of Erhun Oztumer on a free transfer after his contract at Walsall had expired.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a fantastic campaign in the West Midlands last season, hitting 17 goals and establishing himself as one of the most exciting players in the division.

Oztumer had been linked with a move to the Macron for the past few weeks and revealed that it was the influence of Phil Parkinson that made him choose the Trotters over others.

"I had a chat with the manager and I really felt as though it was the right move for me. He told me all the things that I wanted to hear and that’s why I’m here today as a Bolton Wanderers player," he told the official site.

"I am excited to test myself in the Sky Bet Championship with some great players and I’ll be looking to show the Bolton faithful exactly what I am capable of."

This will be the highest level the 27-year old has played at, with Oztumer a non-league player just four years ago.

The Verdict

What a signing this is for Bolton. Everyone knows they don't have big money to spend so they have to search for bargains and Parkinson has done well here.

Oztumer will provide them with the creativity that they were lacking last season and a bit more class on the ball.

After such a good season for Walsall he deserves the chance to make the step up and will be relishing the opportunity to play in the Championship.
