Blackpool have made former Arsenal youngster Marc Bola their first signing of the day, quickly followed by the capture of Oldham Athletic defender Ryan McLaughlin.

20-year old Bola has just been released by the Gunners, having spent some of last season on loan with Bristol Rovers.

He made 23 appearances for the Gas in League One, but was deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

Left back Bola joined the Arsenal academy at 13, but failed to make an impression for the Gunners. He spent time on loan with Notts County in League Two in 2017, giving him a total of 36 senior appearances so far in his career.

The Seasiders quickly followed up that move with a second new face, capturing 23-year old McLaughlin from League Two side Oldham. McLaughlin had been offered a new deal at Boundary Park, but instead opted to return to League One.

He can operate at right back or centre back and made 61 appearances for the Latics over a two-season period, having started out at Liverpool. He's a Northern Ireland international and has previously been on loan at Aberdeen.

The pair become the club's 1th and 12th signings of a busy summer.

The Verdict

Blackpool have been building throughout the summer and both of today's captures are young, hungry footballers with plenty to prove.

Both have come through to flight academies and both have League One experience behind them to. It's been an exciting morning for the Tangerines as they hope to make an impression in League One next season.
