Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed on a season-long loan from Southampton, announced the club’s official website.
Reed joins Jack Rodwell, Jacob Davenport, Kasey Palmer, Joe Rothwell and Adam Armstrong as Tony Mowbray’s new recruits at Ewood Park.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Carrow Road with Norwich City where he made 39 appearances, scoring once and assisting four more.
He has also made over 30 competitive appearances for the Saints making his Premier League debut in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City five years ago and also playing in the Europa League.
He is predominantly a central midfielder but is capable of playing on the right of midfield and has even been known to fill in at right-back when needed.
Blackburn welcome Reed after a decent start to the season with the club sitting fifth in the table on nine points and still unbeaten after two wins and three draws with the latest coming on Saturday at home to Brentford.
Tony Mowbray has built a very solid side at Ewood Park and Reed is another figure of reliability who can slot straight into the team.
He impressed quietly at Carrow Road last season and Blackburn fans will be hoping he can continue that style into this season.
It continues what has been a very impressive window for Mowbray and Reed will bring a lot of quality to the team, so it’s a good move.
