Birmingham City winger Jacques Maghoma has signed a new deal at St Andrew's that will keep him at the club until June 2020, as per the club's official website.

Maghoma was brought in at the Blues in 2015 by former manager Gary Rowett, who had worked with the wideman during their time together at Burton Albion.

He has continued to impress under Rowett's successors and Steve Cotterill is clearly a fan of the 30-year-old, who has four goals from his 32 appearances for the club this season.

Cotterill has found a settled team in recent weeks and that has brought about an upturn in both performances and results at the Midlands club, although they did lose out in Sunday's Second City derby.

The Congolese winger reaffirmed his desire to remain at the club recently when he said: "One hundred per cent I want to stay here and keep playing for the Blues. It's a fantastic club and I want to see this club do well.

"Hopefully we can do better from now until the end of then season and then kick on next season. I still think we've got the players and the hunger and desire within ourselves to go higher.

"You can sense that in and around the dressing room. I want to be part of that."

The Verdict

Birmingham have bigger names than Maghoma but he is a reliable performer and that is what they need if they are to get out of trouble.

I like him, he has pace and he's chipping in with the odd goal and plays with the commitment that higher profile players in the squad could benefit from.
