Birmingham City have signed striker Omar Bogle on a season-long loan from Cardiff City as Garry Monk continues to add to his squad.

The West Midlands club announced the signing of Connor Mahoney on a similar deal earlier today and have now secured Bogle for the season.

The 25-year-old arrives from Premier League Cardiff, who he joined 12 months ago.

However he struggled to make a positive impact in Wales.

Bogle was loaned out to Peterborough at the start of the year and was not going to be in Neil Warnock's plans once the Bluebirds were promoted.

However, he is still an exciting signing for Blues, who confirmed the deal on their official website, as they needed additional firepower in the team.

He really made a name for himself at Grimsby, scoring plenty of goals in a successful time for the club, which saw him earn a move to Wigan, before joining Cardiff.

The striker will be enjoying his second stint as a Blues player having played for the club's academy.

The Verdict

This seems like a smart signing from Birmingham as he gives them another option up top and has a point to prove.

With their financial situation, Monk was always going to have to look for loans and bargains, and he will hope Bogle fulfils the promise that he has.

Now, it's down to the player to perform well in training to win a place in the team.
