West Brom today announced the signing of former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Bakary Sako on a season-long deal. 

The Mali international made his name with West Brom's local rivals Wolves scoring 38 goals in 124 appearances in the second tier before eventually moving to Crystal Palace.

He enjoyed a good start with Palace in the Premier League last season but injuries led to him dropping down the pecking order and was limited to substitute appearances, scoring eight goals in 50 appearances.

It will not be easy for Sako to break into his new side, with the front four of Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez, Harvey Barnes and Matt Phillips scoring 20 goals between them already this season in the Championship alone.

The signing has delighted the Hawthorns' faithful for a number of reasons, with one being that they have signed someone so highly thought of by their rivals.
