Pele is set to miss Reading's trip to Leeds United after suffering a groin injury that saw him sit out the victory at Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder has been a key player for the Royals this season and will be missed but Andy Rinomhota replaced him last Saturday and was excellent in the 3-0 win at Hillsborough.

Jordan Obita is another player who will miss the fixture at Leeds as the left-back will have a scan on his ankle to determine the severity of his injury.

Forward Lucas Joao has stepped up his recovery and was back in boots last week. The Portuguese striker has now missed the past 12 Reading games after picking up a hamstring injury in the victory over Fulham.

Other injuries include Matt Miazga and Tom McIntyre who could both return in March, though the full extent of the latter's injury is still unknown.

The Verdict

The injuries are beginning to pile up at Reading, and there is no doubt that Pele being out is a huge blow for Mark Bowen's side.

Joao has also been tough injury for this Royals side to take, as he was in fine form when the hamstring injury happened. Reading have found it hard to replace what he offered to the side as a physical target man.

It's an interesting scenario that Reading are currently in. They are at no threat from the relegation zone but they are also 11 points from sixth place. They could be a side that causes a few shocks to the teams at the top end of the league as they have nothing to play for.

Bowen will be hoping to get a lot of these players back fit and then start preparing for next season.
