Sunday's Second City derby between Aston Villa and Birmingham City was a typically bruising affair and the Blues will be readying themselves for another physical encounter when they host Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

It looks as if the Blues will still be feeling the effects of that 2-0 defeat at Villa Park when they welcome Neil Harris' men to St Andrew's as they have suffered an injury blow in the middle of the park.

According to the Birmingham Mail, energetic midfielder David Davis picked up a knock in the weekend's fiery clash - that he managed to play through on Sunday - and that might keep him out of contention for the visit of the Lions.

Birmingham boss Steve Cotterill admitted he wasn't quite sure whether Davis would be fit to feature and will use the time between now and kick off to make a decision.

The Verdict

Cotterill has found a settled team the last few weeks and Davis has become a key part of that, and performed especially well in the recent relegation crunch clash at home to Sunderland.

I am not his biggest admirer but his commitment will be needed in the last 15 games of the season and the Blues need him back sooner rather than later.
