Barnsley are set to have a fight on their hands to keep hold of their talisman, Brad Potts with Preston North End reportedly readying a bid for him according to HITC Sport.

Potts has been in excellent form this season and he has been one of the main reasons as to why Barnsley are on course for an immediate return to the Championship following relegation last year.

The midfielder has seven goal and six assists to his name already in this years campaign, and it's no surprise to see him attracting interest early in the transfer window.

Barnsley are currently sat 4th in the League One table and will be keen to hold onto their talisman for the remainder of the season, as they'll feel he can play a starring role in their future.

It's not the first time we have seen Preston look for options from the lower leagues, with the Lilywhites completing the signing of Exeter City striker, Jayden Stockley earlier today.

The former England youth international has been hugely impressive this season, and he'll be keen to progress at a better placed club, and it's been reported by HITC that Preston are in advanced talks to sign Potts.

The Verdict:

This is Barnsley's worst nightmare.

Potts has been crucial to their excellent start to the season, and he would have been confident of building on the impressive performances he has showcased.

If Barnsley are to lose him, then I really do fear for their promotion chances this season from League One.
