Saturday was a big day in the season of Peterborough United as Darren Ferguson made his return to London Road on his third stint as boss. 

Struggling Plymouth Argyle were their opponents and Ferguson will have been confident of picking up a result despite only having just over a week to work with his new squad.

But it did not go to plan at all.

Like many of the Posh's home fixtures this season, this one ended in bitter disappointment, with an 88th minute Ruben Lameiras strike giving all three points to Derek Adams' side.

It could have all been so different had the home side not been reduced to ten men on the stroke of half-time as Lee Tomlin, who had only arrived back at the club on loan in January, was shown a second yellow for a needless shove on Ryan Edwards.

Tomlin has proven to be a top class player for Posh in the past but his temper has often tainted his reputation.
