It's a new era for QPR after Mark Warburton was confirmed as Steve McClaren's successor on a two-year deal at Loftus Road.

A dreadful run of form in 2019 saw the England manager sacked, with John Eustace stepping up to keep the side in the Championship.

And, they confirmed on Wednesday that former Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest boss Warburton would be the man to lead the club next season.

So, how well can QPR do under the 56-year-old who has a good reputation in the game?

Here our writers take a look...

George Brooks

"It's difficult to say at the moment, but Warburton is an experienced manager and has achieved success in the Championship before with Brentford, so QPR fans have reason to be optimistic ahead of next season.

"How far the club can go next season will depend on how well they recruit in the summer, but Warburton has proven that he can work well with a limited budget and this is an encouraging sign for QPR."

Gary Hutchinson

"Anywhere.

"He’s got a lot of work to do, but the manager alone doesn’t make a side. How well will he be backed? Will he trust youth? What has he learned since Forest?

"These are the variables that decided 24th or 2nd."

George Harbey

"I think they will be a mid-table team under Warburton.

"Don’t get me wrong, I think that he is a very underrated manager who will definitely improve things at Loftus Road.

"I just think that, without the ability to make any major signings due to financial difficulties, their squad just isn’t good enough to challenge for the top six, and he isn’t a miracle worker by any means."

Ben Lang

"I think Warburton has a tough job on his hands at Loftus Road.

"But I think he could get his side competing for the play-offs if they maintain their key assets and recruit with care over the summer.

"Warburton has proven his abilities in this league with Brentford and I think they could easily turn around their form this season to push for a top six place."
