It was revealed yesterday that the salary cap that had been imposed on clubs in League One and Two has been scrapped.
Clubs in the bottom two tiers of the Football League voted to introduce salary caps of £2.5m in League One and £1.5m in League Two back in August.
However, the PFA pushed to get rid of that, and it was confirmed that they had been successful in their quest to get it overturned.
That was good news for the clubs with bigger resources, which includes Portsmouth. They have always been against the introduction of the salary cap, and this will allow them to spend more when it comes to attracting new players and giving the current squad improved contracts.
So, most connected to Pompey were pleased with the update, although they would’ve liked it to be done before the window shut.
