‘Comes alive with the ball at his feet’, ‘Doing bits’ – Many Charlton fans reveal who impressed them in last night’s win

Marcus Maddison announced himself to Charlton Athletic fans by inspiring his side’s 3-1 win over Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy last night, which appears to have impressed many supporters.
Lee Bowyer named a much-changed side for the clash against the League Two outfit but saw his men take an early lead through 20-year-old Wassim Aouachria, who scored his first senior goal for the club.
Then it was Maddison’s turn to impress as the summer arrival first delivered a probing free-kick across the face of goal for Jade Jay Mingi to nod in and next grabbed a goal of his own, racing forward and firing a strike in off the underside of the crossbar.
The 27-year-old proved himself a destructive player at Peterborough United – scoring 62 times and adding 92 assists – but left on a sour note and has joined up with the Addicks with his stock lower than it once was.
Last night he gave Bowyer and the Charlton fans a glimpse of just what a talented player he is and the sort of contribution he can provide moving forward.

Impressed with the team tonight, Albie chipping away and the penny seems to have dropped. Barker played like a verteran & 90 mins from Maddison who comes alive with the ball at his feet. Just need him to get fit & give him a free role. Orient look tidy, some good players. #cafc

Goal and an Assist for Maddison. Great for his confidence. Once he’s fully fit, he’s lethal at this level. #cafc https://t.co/2NFttYlssZ

Once again @AlbieMorgan1 put an absolute shift in, not one, but two epic assists and a perfect shot that was unlucky not to go in… my MOTM. Great to see Maddison score his opener for the team too #cafc #coya 🔴⚪️
