‘Comedy central’, ‘Can’t wait’ – Plenty of Newcastle United fans react to Sunderland’s social update

It’s safe to say that there is a significant bridge in quality between local rivals Sunderland and Newcastle United at this moment in time with a break from football upon us.

Phil Parkinson’s side are currently playing their football in the third tier, and although they are in contention to win promotion back into the Premier League this term, their previous days of being in the top-flight will feel like a distant memory to plenty of the Stadium of Light faithful.

Newcastle are sat 13th in the Premier League standings, and are looking as though they’re set for another season in the top division heading towards the conclusion of this year’s campaign.

Sunderland had the chance to to win promotion into the Championship last term, but missed out in frustrating circumstances as they were beaten by Charlton Athletic in the League One Play-Off final at Wembley.

All of the drama from last season was captured in the ‘Sunderland ‘Till I Die’ documentary, which the club announced is set to be premiered on Wednesday.

Plenty of Newcastle United fans took to social media to voice their pleasure at the imminent release of the documentary.
