‘Come in the away end, Lee’ – Charlton fans react to Bowyer’s touchline ban

Lee Bowyer today received a touchline ban and £4,000 fine for misconduct against Swansea City when their teams clashed earlier this month where Swansea came away 2-1 winners.

Charlton have made a good start to the season. Despite a slight drop in form, the newly-promoted side sit a respectable 10th. The competitiveness of the Championship means that they are only four points off of top-placed West Bromich Albion and two points away from playoffs.

Bowyer’s side is aiming for safety before anything else. Then maybe they’ll reassess where they are but until then they’ll take each game as it comes. But will current performances, they’ve played well and competed really well with the top teams in the division which has pleased Lee Bowyer.

This isn’t Lee Bowyer’s first ban but he did say that he was ‘surprised and disappointed’ by the ban. He will be absent for the next three matches, which come against Derby, Bristol City and West Bromich Albion who are 13th, 6th and 1st respectively. So he is missing some key fixtures which could hurt his side’s chances slightly.

The news comes with mixed reactions from Charlton fans who were disappointed by their team’s loss to Swansea, which they felt was unfair. Some are less bothered and even optimistic.

How have Charlton fans have reacted to the news of Bowyer’s ban…
