Ex-Sheffield Wednesday forward Ross Wallace has hinted he is hoping to return to football soon, which has led many Owls fans to call for him to rejoin the club.

The Scotsman has been without a club since his short-term deal with League One side Fleetwood Town expired in September.

The 34-year-old made just four appearances for the Cod Army in the 2019/20 campaign but is now a free agent.

He made 38 appearances for Fleetwood last season, scoring once and adding six assists, and helping them to a 11th place finish in League One–indicating that he is still a capable player at that level.

It appears he is hoping to return to football at the turn of the year as he posted an image of his boots on Instagram alongside the caption: "January 1st round the corner."

Wallace spent a large part of his career representing Wednesday–making 124 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 20 assists.
