‘Come home’ – Plenty of Tranmere Rovers fans react to former player’s social media message

Tranmere Rovers claimed their first win in 12 games thanks to a Corey Blackett-Taylor goal in the 95th minute of an epic 3-2 contest with Shrewsbury Town.Β

Rovers moved within five points of League One safety following Tuesday night’s win and have a game in hand on AFC Wimbledon in the place above them.

Micky Mellon’s men have enjoyed the good times in recent years winning consecutive promotions from the National League and then League Two to compete in League One this season.

With 14 games to go, however, Rovers have their work cut out if they want to remain in the third tier for a second consecutive year.

One player who played an integral part of Rovers’ recent success is striker James Norwood, who now turns out for Ipswich Town where he has scored 11 goals so far this term for the Tractor Boys.

The 29-year-old was League Two’s top-scorer last term with 29 goals for Rovers as they won back-to-back promotions.

Following Tuesday’s victory, the current Ipswich man took to Twitter to congratulate his former club.

Tranmere fans were quick to respond to Norwood’s tweet, with some asking the striker to come home and others wishing the 29-year-old a speedy recovery following an adductor muscle injury sustained last week.

Here we take a look at some of the best responses to Norwood’s tweet…
