Everybody associated with Leeds United has been left disappointed by Garry Monk’s resignation as the club’s head-coach, which came as a shock following a successful campaign in the Sky Bet Championship.

Leeds finished seventh in the Championship, but their performances under Monk indicated the club were heading in the right direction, which makes his resignation even more of a blow for those at Elland Road.

The Whites are used to managerial change, and since their relegation from the Premier League in 2004, Leeds have had 12 different managers, with none of them helping the club return to the top-flight.

Kevin Blackwell led Leeds to the play-off final in 2006, and Monk took Leeds within five-points of the top-six in 2017, but perhaps the club’s most successful manager during the last 17 years has been Simon Grayson – the current Preston North End boss.

Grayson guided Leeds to promotion in League One during the 2009/10 campaign, before leading the Whites to a seventh-placed finish in the Championship the following season.

Following Monk’s resignation, many of the club’s supporters have been calling for Grayson’s return to Elland Road.

Here is some reaction…
