Brentford published their accounts for the year to June 30th 2019 yesterday, boasting a profit margin of £20 million.
Matthew Benham and co have turned Brentford into a cash cow. Their unique recruitment system has allowed them to bring in players like Neal Maupay, Said Benrahma, and Ollie Watkins to name a few, all for measly fees.
Maupay arrived for little over £1.5 million in 2017, and left for Brighton last summer in a deal rising to £20 million – Ezri Konsa also left Brentford with a profit last summer, with his £12 million move to Villa.

Even with a new stadium in construction, Brentford’s player sales sees them become one of the most profitable clubs in the Championship, and Brentford fans are mocking Preston manager Alex Neil because of it.
He made some fiery claims about Brentford amongst other clubs yesterday, saying that ‘clubs who furlough staff should receive a transfer ban‘ – both Brentford and Leeds have made use of the scheme, and both sets of fans lamented Neil for it.
Here’s how Brentford fans reacted to their released profit margins, and it came just in time to respond to Neil’s idea:
@pnefc thoughts are with Alex Neil at this difficult time

Massive congratulations to all involved. Just a decade ago the losses were huge and this felt impossible.

That is a staggering figure and we've built a new stadium in the same time frame and have probably £40m plus incoming if Watkins/Benrahama move on. Compare this to 10-15 years ago!
