Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Gary O'Neil has questioned what is going on at the North West club, which has drawn an interesting response from many fans.

The Trotters are 17 points adrift of safety in the English third tier, having started the season with a 12-point deduction.

Financial issues decimated their squad in the summer, meaning the started the season with a threadbare squad and their form duly suffered.

Under Keith Hill, their fortunes have started to turn around but it looks like it will take a near miracle for them to avoid relegation.

O'Neil was one of many players to leave the club in the summer and took to Twitter this afternoon to question what was going on at Bolton.

He joined in the summer of 2018 from Championship side Bristol City and went on to make 31 appearances in all competitions–scoring three times and adding an assist.

The 36-year-old has not signed with another club since leaving the Trotters but has been working as a Sky Sports and talkSPORT pundit.

O'Neil's comments have drawn an interesting reaction from many Bolton fans, who took to Twitter to express their thoughts.
