The future of Danny Rose has created something of a stir in the football world, but notably around Elland Road.

The England international revealed last week that he intends to leave the North London club at the end of his contract in 2021.

He told the London Evening Standard“In January, you’re probably going to hear something [about my future]. I’m telling you right now that I’m not going anywhere until my contract is finished.

“[Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on.

“My contract is up in 18 months’ time and I’ll leave the football club then.”

For Leeds United this could be bad news as it means that, according to former Yorkshire Evening Post writer Phil Hay, they'll miss out on a potential future 10% sell-on clause that was inserted into the deal that took him to North London.

A selection of Leeds supporters have responded to Football League World's post in a Leeds United supporters group on Facebook with an alternative plan to get the benefit out of their former starlet's undoubted quality.

Here's how a selection of Leeds United fans responded on social media.

Lee Whitlock: “Do the right thing, Danny. Extend your contract, then move.”

Anthony Dilworth: “Not his decision.”

Nigel Leed: “You think we’d spend it anyway?”

Ben Williams: “Until he comes back on a free…”

Ste Harrison: “Get promoted this year, loan him next year and then sign on a free!”

Keith Brown: “A free to us? Doesn’t sound too bad.”
