In a move which seems to suit all parties in the short term, Connor Ripley has signed a new contract at Middlesbrough and then headed out on a season long loan to Burton Albion.

Connor Ripley puts pen to paper on a new three year deal with Boro and he will be hoping that a season of good displays in the Championship will convince Garry Monk to select him next year.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Oldham Athletic, keeping a remarkable seventeen clean sheets to help them survive relegation.

Owing to his top performances, Ripley was named as Oldham's Player of the Year and was selected as the goalkeeper in the EFL Team of the Year.

Middlesbrough fans shared their views on social media and seemed mostly content by this news.

Here are a selection of replies following the initial announcement of Ripley's new deal and subsequent loan to Burton Albion.
