Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has issued a typically honest message to any members of his squad who want to leave the club in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

He has told any players considering a move and escaping the relegation battle set to unfold at the Stadium of Light in the second half of the season to come to him and just ask for a move.

He does not want any passengers and has stated his desire to only have hungry players who are up for the fight at the club as he seeks to steer them clear of relegation.

Coleman looks set to utilise his previous experience as Wales manager and is reportedly set to snare Welsh starlet Ben Woodburn from Liverpool to boost Sunderland's survival chances.

The Verdict:

Coleman is saying things that every Sunderland fans have known since they started battling relegation from the Premier League.

They need to cut the players with big reputations and pay packets and go for players with a point to prove, who will unite behind the manager and inspire the fans.

Woodburn is a fantastic step in that direction and he is exactly the type of player who will get the Sunderland fans excited.
