Derby County were emphatically knocked out of the Carabao Cup as they were beaten at rivals Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Albert Adomah opened the scoring for the Reds before Joe Lolley doubled their lead before half-time. Sabri Lamouchi’s side made sure of their qualification to the 3rd round with ten minutes to go as João Carvalho made it three.
It was an evening where Phillip Cocu’s side failed to put their foothold on the match, and with not one shot on-target, the 3,300 Rams supporters left empty handed.
The match was marred by an incident that reportedly took place during the Derby players’ warm-down which involved Rams captain, Richard Keogh, and a Nottingham Forest groundsman.
This leaves Cocu’s side without a win in four, as they prepare to travel to West London for Saturday’s fixture at Brentford. That is the last Championship match-week before the first international break of the season.
Here’s how Rams supporters reacted to the thrashing from their rivals….
Lamouchi made almost as many changes as Cocu last night. Instead of lambasting the manager, #dcfc fans should be asking why our 2nd string is so weak. Why we’re now having to integrate too many kids too quickly. Point the finger somewhere else. Owner & recruitment perhaps 😳

#22 game of 2019 – @NFFC vs @dcfcofficial – 3-0 – Unfortunate night for the rams, cup games are always a hard one and even more so against your biggest rivals, I don’t disagree with rotation but only to a certain extent, we have to move on and beat Brentford Saturday! #dcfc #nffc pic.twitter.com/lUEPfFjlZA

Not only was that a poor team selection as a whole last night, Mason Bennett as a lone striker stinks! He’s nowhere near good enough #dcfc

What a shocker last night. Felt like it was lost at 18:45 when the team news came in. Totally different cup tie to Scunthorpe away. Let's see if this works on Saturday (still doesn't justify that many changes), if not this will be talked about for many weeks to come #dcfc 😥

#DCFC fans need to realise it’s going to take time for his vision and style of play to pay dividends. Look at his slow start at PSV, and then how it ended!

I honestly can’t believe the overreaction! Do people really care that much about the league cup? We blooded some young players and gave minutes to squad players!our squad is much smaller and we can’t risk injuries to Marriott etc! it’s a rebuild season relax #dcfc

Cocu got it wrong last night, can’t just roll over in a game like that, a win there really would have kick started our season, I will say and it’s very rarely I’ll praise forest but it looks like they’ve got a real gem of a manager in Lamouchi #DCFC #NFFC
