Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren is hoping to loan out teenage prospect Rolando Aarons in hope of giving him some much needed game time, according to The Shields Gazette.

The 19-year-old came into the limelight last season after a number of impressive cameo appearances for Newcastle's first-team, particularly in a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, were he scored and claimed an assist, and in their 2-0 win over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup, where he netted the opener.

The England Under-20 international was linked with a deadline day move to Championship side Queens Park Rangers, in a deal involving Charlie Austin moving to St James' Park, but he remained in the North East.

Despite the Magpies' struggles in the Premier League - they've yet to win this season - the former England manager said, when asked about the talented Aarons leaving on loan: 'That is a possibility. He needs games. He needs to play. But Rolando Aarons is most definitely my type of play, most definitely.'

With Aarons seemingly available on an emergency loan deal, a number of Championship clubs may be interested in approaching the Jamaican-born winger as he could certainly add some pace and creativity to a side's attack.

He's proved to be a handful for some Premier League defences, so easily has the potential to cause problems and score goals at Championship level.
