James Shan has offers from three different clubs following his impressive first managerial experience in charge of West Brom at the end of the season.

Taking over from Darren Moore following the 45-year-old's sacking at the start of March, Shan won seven and lost four of his twelve games in interim charge of The Baggies, but was unable to secure promotion to the Premier League for a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to local rivals Aston Villa in the Championship play-off semi final, following an aggregate 2-2 draw over the two legs.

While Shan's time in charge of the club had only ever been set to be until the end of the season, there had never been any question about Shan returning to his role as a coach at the club following the end of the season.

That however may now be set to change, after The Sun reported that three unnamed clubs, including two from the Football League and one from overseas, have made offers to Shan.

Speaking in the same report about his future, Shan revealed that he still expects to be at The Hawthorns next season, saying: “I spoke to the club before I was appointed caretaker until the end of the season and was assured there would be a job for me.

“My current contract is first-team coach and at this moment I would expect it to stay as first-team coach."

He did however stop short of making any guarantees, as he added: “A bit like when Darren went, you have to expect the unexpected.”

The verdict

You can see why there are sides interested in Shan.

He stepped in to steady the ship admirably following Moore's departure, and was unlucky not to get Wembley on the lottery of penalties.

His knowledge of the club and experience as a coach mean West Brom will surely want him to stay, but you can't blame him if he does choose to try and prove himself in the top job somewhere else.
