Bolton Wanderers striker Josh Magennis is attracting the interest of Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Scottish side are no strangers to the powerful forward by any means - the 28-year old scored just 12 goals in over 120 appearances for the club, before signing for Kilmarnock in 2014.

But the Northern Ireland international has gone on to become a real success at Charlton Athletic, as well as his current club Bolton Wanderers.

The forward is currently the Trotters' top goalscorer, having netted seven times and produced two assists for Phil Parkinson's men this season.

And, with the Lancashire club in turmoil both on and off the pitch, reliable journalist Alan Nixon claims that Aberdeen are exploring the option of re-signing Magennis in the summer.

Bolton are in dire straits both on and off the pitch - the club have already been relegated to League One, and have had to give Brentford an automatic 1-0 defeat due to players going on strike, and Laurence Bassini failing to complete a takeover of the club.

They face Nottingham Forest on the final day of the campaign this afternoon.

The Verdict

It has been a terrible season to say the least for Bolton, and it would be even worse if they were to lose their star-man in the summer.

He probably hasn't been at his best this season, but not many players have, and at least Magennis has been in decent form in front of goal unlike others.

The club seriously need to sort the mess out off the pitch, before concentrating on any player departures or incomings.
