Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula has been subject to interest from La Liga side Levante.

According to Spanish media outlet Cadenaser, the 25-year-old midfielder is a transfer target for the Spanish top division side.

Imbula, who signed for the Potters back in 2016 for a club record transfer fee, spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Toulouse, where he made 34 appearances.

Levante midfielder Jefferson Lerma has been linked with a move to Premier League side Bournemouth, meaning the La Liga side will have a space in their midfield and money to spend, with the Frenchman their top target.

The middle man certainly is a talented footballer, but things have not worked out for him since his arrival at the Bet365 Stadium.

Imbula did not feature at all in Stoke’s preseason, and Garry Rowett did not include the midfielder in hi side for their opening day fixture.

The Verdict

The fall of Giannelli Imbula has been hard to watch in the previous two seasons.

A player with so much talent and even more potential, you would expect Stoke City to be wanting to keep hold of their man, but they seem to be content with Imbula leaving.

Rowett doesn’t seem to be interested in including the midfielder in his plans for the Potters, so perhaps a move away to the La Liga is the right thing for all parties.
