Regardless of what division they find themselves preparing to compete in next season, it seems inevitable that Leeds United are going to have to make changes to their squad in the summer transfer window.

That of course will mean making space in their squad, selling current players to allow new ones to come in help them stay in or compete for a place in the Premier League.

So while the Victor Orta; Marcelo Bielsa and co. will once again be putting all their focus on top tier football one way or another, other sides will be assessing some of those directed towards the Elland Road exit door.

One such club who should be doing that Fleetwood Town, particularly if the latest news coming out of Elland Road is to be believed.

According to Football Insider, one of those who Leeds are expected to be willing to listen offers for Lewie Coyle, and that is something that those around the Cod Army must already be working to exploit.

For the last two seasons, Coyle has been a mainstay of Fleetwood's defence while on loan from Leeds, making no fewer than 90 appearances for the Fylde coast side.

With the news that the 23-year-old right back is now surplus to requirements at Elland Road, Fleetwood surely find themselves in pole position for a permanent deal.

That Coyle was willing to return for a second season at Highbury shows that he is clearly happy at the club, and his appearance statistics mean that he knows he will be given ample game time by the club.

Current Fleetwood boss Joey Barton has already admitted that he would "love" to extend Coyle's stay at the club so there is no issue in that respect, and given the string of impressive performances the defender has put in for Fleetwood, you feel they need to tie him down quick before the open market of the transfer window sees other clubs move in for the 23-year-old.

Given their pre-established popularity with a club's fan base, permanent transfers of previous loan stars can often be among the most popular of transfers.

With the situation how it is here, you feel the hierarchy at Highbury have the opportunity to really give the Cod Army something to smile about.
