Turkish side Fenerbahce are set to turn down the chance to make Swansea striker Andre Ayew's loan move permanent, it has been reported.

Ayew has scored just five goals in 36 appearances during a season long loan spell with the Turkish giants, who have experienced a similarly disappointing campaign, as they sit 12th in the 18 team league, five points clear of the relegation zone with just three games of the season remaining.

It seems that that poor form could cost Ayew an extended stay in Turkey, with Sport Witness reporting that Turkish newspaper Aksam have claimed that Fenerbahce will not take up their permanent option on Ayew.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc had previously stated an interest in keeping Ayew, but with the 29-year-old having scored just once in 2019, it appears he has now changed his mind.

It is thought that Swansea could also look to offload the Ghanaian, who has two more years left on his contract at The Liberty Stadium, during the summer transfer window.

Ayew only returned to Swansea after a year and a half at West Ham in January 2018, but he was unable to prevent the Wales based side's relegation from the Premier League, as he failed to score in 12 appearances for the club.

The Verdict

Given Ayew's record in Turkey, and Fenerbahce's own struggles this season, it doesn't seem much of a surprise to see that Ayew's time at the club is likely to come to an end.

That does however leave Swansea with a problem. Ayew hasn't been cheap for them, and he hasn't exactly paid them back with his performances recently, meaning it could be difficult for them to get much of a return on their investment.
