National League side Notts County are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday defender Ciaran Brennan on loan, a report from The Sheffield Star has revealed.
It was reported earlier this month, that Brennan was one of several young Sheffield Wednesday players who could be loaned out in search of regular game time – with the market still open for non-league clubs.
That had initially seen Chesterfield credited with an interest in signing the 21-year-old on a temporary basis.
Now however, it seems as though another National League club are pushing hard to secure the services of Brennan for the coming months.
Are these 22 stats about Sheffield Wednesday real or fake?
As things stand, Notts are currently fourth in the National League table, with 15 points from their seven league games so far.
Brennan meanwhile, has made five first-team appearances for Sheffield Wednesday to date, all of which have come in the domestic cup competitions.
It does look as though a loan move to Notts County could be a rather good deal for Brennan.
Given the strength that Wednesday have in their side right now, it could be difficult for Brennan to force his way into Darren Moore’s starting XI anytime soon.
A move elsewhere on a temporary could therefore make sense, giving the young defender the chance of regular first-team football that he may need to improve his game.
Indeed, with Notts having made a strong start to the National League season as well, the experience of battling for promotion so early in his career could be useful for Brennan as well, and something he can draw on further down the line.
